Only 500 of these 144-page books were printed, making it a scarce publication. It was the culmination of years of research by the author and has been printed on quality paper with a full-colour dust jacket with gold blocking. At the back of the book are a number of appendices, including a list of 3500 names of miners and the mines in which they worked. The text of the book is illustrated with more than 200 photographs, as well as drawings, maps and some technical descriptions.
