Lovers of blue and white china will be familiar with the very popular pattern ‘Willow’.
Burleigh was founded in 1851 as Hulme & Booth in Burslem, Staffordshire, named after the founders. When the pottery changed hands in 1862 it was renamed ‘Burgess & Leigh’ after names of the new owners . Until the 1920s it primarily produced toiletware. It expanded its tableware ranges in the 1920s and 1930s and these are regarded as the firm’s golden years.
This Burleigh Ware gilt edged set is made in England and consists of a tea pot, lidded sugar bowl, creamer/milk jug, sandwich plate and two trios (cup, saucer, plate).
