A great reference book documented by Bendigo historian and Medal of the Order of Australia recipient James A. Lerk, for his contribution to preserving the history of Bendigo. In addition he was a founding member of the Bendigo Trust. This is a softcover/paperback edition, a first edition published in 1991 with print run of 4,000 copies. George Mackay's book 'History of Bendigo' was originally published in 1891. It is renowned as one of the definitive works which chronicle the early life of the city, the first forty years of Bendigo's establishment and growth. George Mackay also wrote the first four volumes of the Annals of Bendigo. He died in 1948. For this 213-page reprint a very comprehensive index has been added.
