It was the culmination of years of research by the author and has been printed on quality paper with a full-colour dust jacket with gold blocking. At the back of the book are a number of appendices, including a list of 3500 names of miners and the mines in which they worked. This is a 383 page hardback book with dustjacket published in 1985 by Brown Prior Anderson Pty Ltd, Burwood Victoria. It is in good condition throughout. The book provides a comprehensive history of the town of Heathcote and the surrounding Shire of McIvor. Major Mitchell led the first European exploration through the district in 1836. By 1852 the European population was nearing 400 and the indigenous population was estimated to be approximately 30. Gold was discovered in 1853 and the rush was on.
