Madame Murat's is a small family restaurant run by Jeanne Murat in the French village of Pomarede in south-western France. This booklet was printed in Melbourne by G.W. Green & Sons Pty. Ltd. At the time Laurel Kerosene was the most popular kerosene amongst Australian housewives. The Vacuum Oil Company was the first oil company to be established in Australia. The recipes and hints published in this booklet had appeared in the Vacuum Country Journal and all had been tested and tasted. The book is in pretty good condition for its age. This beautiful book features a profile on each chef with photographs as well as more than 150 of their signature recipes. The book is in good condition throughout. Mrs. Floate was an Australian, entirely self taught cook who was well known for winning a total of 1284 prizes in competitive cooking, for example winning the G.J. Coles Cup at the Royal Melbourne Show regularly. Mrs. Floate also also acted as a judge in the cooking section of various shows. This softcover booklet was produced by Robertson & Mullens Ltd. 107-113 Elizabeth St., Melbourne. Please check the photos carefully. The corners are missing on the front cover and the top right edge on the back cover is missing. The covers and endpapers are fragile but the rest is good for its age.
