  • Myrtle Rose White, the author, lived in the Australian outback from the age of sixteen. She lived on Lake Elder Station for seven years raising her children while her station manager husband battled to maintain the five thousand head of cattle under his command. It was a massive engineering project to divert the waters of the mountain streams inland to the Murray and Murrumbidgee rivers, providing water for irrigation and hydroelectric power.   • Olegas Truchanas, a Lithuanian born Tasmanian was a master photographer and a champion of the Tasmanian wilderness. He was also a councillor of the Australian Conservation Foundation. He sadly lost his life in the Gordon River Gorge on January 6th, 1972. This book of 144 pages, including both colour and black and white plates, has gathered together his finest works.
