In 1906 at Sorrell in Tasmania, Melbourne born Howard Vernon (singer and comedian) married an actress and singer, Lavinia Florence De Loitte (1881-1962). Vinia, as she was known on stage, was the toast of Sydney in 1904 as Fifi in The Belle of New York. This book gives an account by Vinia de Loitte (Mrs. Howard Vernon) of the stories of the operas and of their production and revivals in Australia.
