Taken from the Goldfields Guide (Victoria) "The Loddon River Scenic Reserve in Glenlyon offers beautiful views, a scenic walk and a stunning waterfall. This peaceful reserve features Loddon Falls, where the Loddon River drops dramatically over a wall of huge hexagonal basalt columns into a pool below before continuing on through the spectacular rocky gorge." I believe this is an early postcard of the above Loddon Falls. It is postmarked Melbourne 8 AM 28 5 07. It has been posted to Miss D. Debney, Continuation School, City. The Mac. Robertson Girls' High School began as Melbourne Continuation School, the first government funded school in the state of Victoria, established in 1905 in Spring Street, Melbourne. Please refer to both photos provided.

Foreword by Martin Kemp 'Arthur Boyd is unquestionably one of Australia’s greatest artists, his popularity and international reputation matched only by that of his friend and brother-in-law, Sidney Nolan. Throughout the course of a very rich and varied life, Boyd was influenced and animated by many great themes. Janet McKenzie’s account elaborates on these influences as Boyd’s art developed in Australia and England, drawing heavily on her friendship with the artist in the latter years of his life. Boyd’s artistic career began early; even in his teens he was painting professional, albeit conventional, pictures. These gave such a profound effect on the development of Australian figurative painting. By 1950 Boyd had produced a remarkable series of religious paintings, all heavily influenced by the Old Masters – his only real contact with the mainstream of European art. He went on to paint many works where his sources were specifically Australian, in particular the landscapes which, perhaps for the first time, looked really Australian, and the luminous Bride paintings, his moving response to the plight of the aborigines. In 1960 Boyd came to England, where he had a period of great artistic fertility, extending his repertory to include etchings, aquatints and drypoints, many of which were published in book form. Boyd’s work is an extraordinary mixture of fantasy, eroticism and humanism. His prodigious creativity in all media is magnificently conveyed in this beautiful and original study, which is complemented by a chronology, a full bibliography and a list of his illustrated works. Every aspect and period of Boyd’s art and life is fully documented, making this the most complete account available of this engaging and infinitely compassionate artist.' The book consists of 224 pages which contain 254 illustrations, 110 of these are in colour. The publisher is Thames & Hudson. Please refer to all the photos provided. The book is in good overall condition. Any questions? please get in touch.

Lovers of blue and white china will be familiar with the very popular pattern 'Willow'. Burleigh was founded in 1851 as Hulme & Booth in Burslem, Staffordshire, named after the founders. When the pottery changed hands in 1862 it was renamed ‘Burgess & Leigh’ after names of the new owners . Until the 1920s it primarily produced toiletware. It expanded its tableware ranges in the 1920s and 1930s and these are regarded as the firm's golden years. This Burleigh Ware gilt edged set is made in England and consists of a tea pot, lidded sugar bowl, creamer/milk jug, sandwich plate and two trios (cup, saucer, plate).
