This book celebrates the extraordinary and colourful history of the iconic Tolarno Bistro in Fitzroy Street, St Kilda. Started in the 1960s by Georges and Mirka Mora, art met life with interesting results. Tolarno Bistro closed in 2006 and this book is a record of an influential era of cooking, eating, drinking and being creatively merry. This is a 168 page hardback edition with dustjacket which has been signed by the author, Suzanne Falkiner and published by Valadon Publishing, Australia, 1981. Founded in 1882 as a Merino stud, Haddon Rig is managed by George Falkiner, his daughter Olivia and their management team. Wool way bills are documents that record the transportation of wool from one place to another. They contain information such as the quantity of wool, the destination, and the date of shipment. The business Goldsbrough, Mort & Company Limited was established in 1848 and its registered office was at 526 Bourke Street, Melbourne. The company dealt in wool, hides, sheepskins, tallow, furred skins etc. In 1962 Goldsbrough, Mort & Co merged with Elder Smith & Co to form Elder Smith Goldsbrough Mort & Co Ltd. It contains a photographic exhibition of koori women of southeast Australia. Mrs. Floate was an Australian, entirely self taught cook who was well known for winning a total of 1284 prizes in competitive cooking, for example winning the G.J. Coles Cup at the Royal Melbourne Show regularly. Mrs. Floate also also acted as a judge in the cooking section of various shows. Thomas Eyres was born in Ballarat in 1870 and found his way to the Western Australian goldfields in 1894. After travelling by steamer and train he and a mate walked the last 180 miles to Coolgardie.
